Overview:
Notice is hereby given by the Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD) of its intent to contract for the provision of Supply and Installation of Exterior Windows at Saltair Community Centre:
Supplier Name: Thermoproof Windows & Doors
Description of Purchase: Phase 2 Supply and Installation of Exterior Windows at Saltair Community Centre:
Supply and installation of forty-eight various sized windows.
Value of Award: The estimated value is $56,000 Canadian dollars, excluding taxes.
The decision to direct award to Thermoproof Doors and Windows was made based on the following considerations:
1. Project Continuity & Consistency: In June, 2024, Thermoproof Windows and Doors were awarded the contract of RFQ# I24-21 for the Supply and Installation of Exterior Windows at Saltair Community Centre. The CVRD invited quotes from three suppliers. The CVRD received two responses, both quotes were over budget. The CVRD worked with the lowest bidder to reduce scope to meet the budgetary requirements. The CVRD’s intent was to award future work through the Change Order process as budget became available. Award of the Phase 2 scope will provide consistency and continuity in the following areas:
• Ensuring aesthetic consistency in the building’s façade will provide a unified and professional appearance.
• Performance Grade and Energy Rating consistent with the windows installed in 2024 will provide consistent durability and energy efficiency across the entire window system.
• Ensures warranty consistency for the entire building.
• Streamlines administration and future maintenance and repairs.
2. Project Schedule: Thermoproof Windows and Doors is able to meet the October 31, 2025 installation completion date.
