GSA26AG108 - AgriVoltaics Feasibility Study

The Ministry is seeking a qualified consultant or team of consultants to evaluate the potential for agrivoltaics in British Columbia, an innovative approach that combines solar energy generation with agricultural production on the same land base. The study will examine regional suitability across BC, compatibility with various farming systems and crops, and the economic viability of two implementation models: on-farm energy generation and grid-tied systems. It will also assess environmental impacts, infrastructure requirements, and regulatory considerations to ensure that solar development does not compromise agricultural productivity or lead to land-use conversion.
The successful proponent will be expected to conduct a jurisdictional scan of agrivoltaic projects in other regions, identify key success factors and barriers, and explore opportunities for policy alignment, incentive programs, and private sector partnerships. The findings will inform future policy and program development, helping to guide sustainable land use and energy planning in BC.

The contract start date will be within 14 days of the RFP closing date and the term will be until March 20, 2026. The maximum budget available for this project is $70,000.
