    Description
The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) is inviting qualified Proponents to provide proposals to act as the RMOW’s Wildfire Vegetation Management Program (WVMP) Contractor. The scope includes all the necessary work to coordinate and carry out the safe and successful completion of fuel thinning projects in accordance with the relevant Fuel Management Prescriptions developed by the RMOW’s Wildfire Program Consultant (Consultant). An example Fuel Management Prescription (not for the proposed Treatment Units) is provided in section 11.

Since 2004, the RMOW has been conducting wildfire vegetation management in the form of fuel thinning projects on unceded lands currently managed by the province and municipal lands to reduce the risk of wildfire to our community. The primary goal of fuel thinning is to reduce forest fuel loads within the wildland-urban interface and landscape fuel breaks to reduce the ability of fire to spread from the forest into the community and vice versa, and to make wildfires easier to fight.

The RMOW intends to award a contract for the term June 1, 2026 to December 31, 2028 with the option to extend the term by one one-year term contingent on annual budget approval. The RMOW reserves the right to adjust the scope of work and length of contract at any time based on fuel thinning needs and available funding.
