Notice of Intent
Consulting Services for
UBCH Koerner Pavillion 3rd Floor Fire System
Project Number: B168-00NOI
Vancouver Coastal Health Authority intends to extend the contract with AME Consulting Group for their services as the Prime Consultant for the UBC Hospital (UBCH) Koerner Pavilion Third Floor Fire System project.
The estimated value of the contract extension is $47,150.00 plus GST, for additional services of redesign, tender, through contract/construction administration. VCH has chosen not to conduct a full Request for Proposal (RFP) process for the following reasons:AME Consulting Group has been providing consultancy services for this project and acting as the prime consultant on the design and design revisions for UBCH Koerner Pavilion third floor fire protection system since Feb 2020. AME Consulting Group has gained extensive project-specific knowledge of the site and existing infrastructure; established working relationships with the UBCH project team, Facility Maintenance and Operations team, stakeholders, and local authorities having jurisdiction. The updated project scope requires additional work to replace existing fire alarm devices and return the existing booster pump system to a compliant and operational condition. Retaining AME Consulting Group will allow the continuation of collaborations between owner, stakeholders, and AHJ to advance the existing project and bring efficiency in the project costs and schedule. The project is mandated to proceed on an accelerated schedule to support timely remediation of the fire protection system of the site. AME Consulting Group expects to complete redesign and achieve tender ready in early July 2026. AME Consulting Group is prequalified for acute care projects greater than $5M for VCH, PHSA and FHA, and has obtained sufficient Commercial General Liability and Professional Liability insurance coverage.Consultants may challenge this decision by submitting a written objection to the undersigned by June 1, 2026, at 15:00 local time.
Provide proof showing your technical capacity, existing system knowledge and ability to meet the requirements and project timeline stated in this Notice of Intent.
Only challenges from from mechanical engineering firms prequalified for acute care projects greater than $5M will be reviewed.
