Description
VGN Resources Group Inc. (VGN) will be the Program Administrator for projects under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food's (Ministry) extension programming for environment and climate change. This NOI and project is administered by VGN on behalf of the Ministry.
The Supplier will provide specialized post-harvest apple storage advisory and extension services to support selected British Columbia apple packinghouses and the Ministry’s Tree Fruit Specialist.Provide site-specific technical support to up to eight selected apple packinghouses in the Okanagan and Similkameen, with a focus on harvest maturity assessment, fruit receiving, pre-storage conditioning, regular and controlled-atmosphere storage management, and the prevention and management of physiological storage disorders. Assess current handling and storage practices with packers and Ministry staff, identify practical opportunities to reduce quality deterioration, cull rates and storage losses, and provide technical review and validation for an Apple Post-Harvest Best Practices Guide authored by the Ministry. The Supplier may also participate in a seminar, webinar or other knowledge-transfer activity.
