Description
Parks Services requires a short list for manual fuel mitigation services in natural areas. This could be a 3-year list with 2 optional 1-year extensions, or a 5 year list. Contractors would need to demonstrate previous successful experience implementing fuel management prescriptions in urban natural areas, ideally in dry Okanagan forest ecosystems. Proponents are required to deliver a broad scope of services within the realm of fuel mitigation. This includes manual tree falling with WorkSafeBC certified fallers, manual pruning and thinning, and debris disposal. Debris disposal techniques include scattering, pile and burning, chipping and dispersal within natural areas, and chipping and hauling adjacent to roads. Preferred, but optional, services include falling within striking distance of structures, working adjacent to active roads (this includes the development and implementation of traffic management plans as well as obtaining road use permits), working adjacent to active power transmission lines, and trail construction for equipment access.
