Description
Tsleil-Waututh Nation (TWN) is seeking a Consultant to complete a Creek and Watercourse Protection Assessment and Mapping study for four watercourses on IR #3: George Creek; Thomas Creek; Big John Creek; and the unnamed watercourse on the west side of IR #3. The purpose of this assessment is to establish scientifically defensible, regulation-aligned Streamside Protection and Enhancement Areas (SPEAs) that align with the British Columbia Riparian Areas Protection Regulation (RAPR, 2019) for all four watercourses and to identify creek flood hazards and mitigation measures. This information will be used as the foundation for a Streamside Protection and Creek Hazard Development Permit Area (DPA) Framework and Guidelines that our internal team will add to the TWN Land Use Plan. Establishing the SPEAs and a DPA will protect fish and fish habitat, and guide TWN environmental protection, land use planning, and sustainable development on IR #3.
