The purpose of this Request for Proposals is to invite prospective proponents with a successful track record of providing Construction Management services to submit Proposals to Simon Fraser University for the provision of Construction Management services for the SFU Burnaby Campus Applied Science Building Renewal, as further described in this RFP.
The Applied Science Building (ASB) Renovation Project was initiated in 2016 and addresses deferred maintenance requirements as well as functional requirements to better address academic and research needs.
The project comes in different phases because of intricate construction activities within an occupied building. Construction of Phases 1 & 2 are in progress and expected to be completed in July 2022. The scope of work comprises deferred maintenance including replacement of the building envelope on the north and east sides of the building, related seismic upgrades, and other mechanical and electrical upgrades; and L9000 and L10000 north and north-east courtyard infill to increase the administration and academic spaces.
The Phases 3 and 4 of ASB renewal project under this RFP entails upgrade of existing envelope on the west link ASB building including planter renewal; and membrane upgrade; replacement of existing cooling towers and exhaust fans, concrete pads and associated membrane on the ASB roof; and air balancing of ASB building.
The Project is expected to be substantially completed in 10 – 12 months.
