3611 NOI- Canada Goose Egg Addling

Solicitation number 3611

Publication date

Closing date and time 2024/02/06 18:00 EST

    Description
The City of Nanaimo has been informally managing Canada geese since 1999. In 2016, due to increased conflicts related to negative interactions between Canada geese and people (e.g., fouling of sports fields, beaches, cemeteries; physical interactions/aggressiveness of geese; grazing of public and private properties) the City of Nanaimo increased 1) its effort to study and understand the abundance, distribution and residence time of Canada geese in Nanaimo, and 2) its intensity of population management of geese. As part of the intensification of effort to control goose population growth, the City hired EBB Consulting to assist and advise the Canada goose addling program. EBB has been an integral part of the design, implementation and effectiveness of the City’s addling program.
