MACKENZIE - MCK Medical Clinic Renovation
Solicitation number 5710
Publication date
Closing date and time 2022/08/25 17:00 EDT
Description
Mackenzie and District Hospital (MCK) has an existing Doctor’s clinic located within the hospital. While the exam rooms are functioning adequately, the reception area is much too small for all of the functions that are required in the space. Adjacent space (Clean Supply) has been identified and can be taken over to expand the reception area. Finding a new space for, or the relocation of supplies and equipment from the Clean Supply room is not required as part of this project. The overall floor area to be renovated is approximately 446 ft2
MCK is an operational facility, and as such, considerations would need to be taken during design/construction to ensure that the impacts on the surrounding area are minimized.
The project scope includes design and planning of the two spaces indicated above, to create a functional reception space. Meetings with users on site will inform what specific requirements there may be. Generally, office and clinic administration, as well as registering/checking in of patients is handled in this space.
The project is to meet all current standards (utilize the most recent approved version), including those noted below, as required:
- CSA Z317.13 Infection Control During Construction, Renovation, and Maintenance of Health Care Facilities (and other CSA Z317 standards as applicable);
- CSA Z8000 Canadian Health Care Facilities;
- CSA Z8001 Commissioning of Health Care Facilities;
- BC Building Code;
- BC Fire Code; and,
- BC Plumbing Code.
Proponents are asked to submit a fixed fee with a breakdown of each phase for preparation of the following:
1. Schematic Drawings;
2. Design Development Drawings;
3. Construction Drawings and Tender Package;
4. Construction; and,
5. As-Built Drawings.
Proponents are asked to submit, separate from the fixed fee, the amount of site visits that will be required for this project.
The intent is to award a Contract for Schematic Drawings, Design Development Drawings and Construction Drawings and Tender Package (based on budget availability), with the final two phases being added on to the Contract once funding for the construction portion of the project is secured. It is anticipated that funding will be confirmed in early 2023, at which point, the project would be tendered for construction.
It is Northern Health Authority (NHA) intent to begin the design work in September 2022, after contract award.
