    Description
    The Strategic Climate Initiatives Unit (SCIU) within the Regenerative Agriculture and Climate Initiatives Division of the Ministry formulates strategies, identifies opportunities, and drives the development and implementation of the Ministry’s Provincial, Federal, and international climate action commitments.
    The SCIU is developing a Climate Strategy and related Implementation Plan to guide and coordinate the Ministry’s actions to support the sector in continuing to build resilience to climate change, reduce sector net greenhouse gas emissions, and ensure that funding investments achieve effective results. This strategy is expected to:
    • Provide overarching principles, goals, outcomes, objectives, and strategies, for targeted investments to support continued effective climate change adaptation and mitigation in the agriculture sector;
    • Align with and improve governance between Ministry climate actions and existing and forthcoming Ministry, Provincial, federal, and international climate and related strategies, actions, plans, and regulations;
    • Provide mechanisms for governance, accountability, and culture shift within the Ministry;
    • Provide a performance evaluation plan connected to the mission and objectives;
    • Reflect existing Ministry and industry capacity, and past and upcoming input from stakeholders and partners (internal and external to government).
    The SCIU is contracting services from September 2022 to January 2023 to support the planning process in the areas of:
    1. strategic and implementation planning support
    2. facilitation of engagement with government agencies and other partners
    3. (minor) content development/writing & editing
    Engagement with stakeholders and partners fully external to government is out of scope of this contract.
    Details of contract workplan and deliverables will be finalized through discussion with the successful Proponent, and the SCIU invites Proponents to submit proposals that articulate the services that the Proponent would provide for the Ministry to best attain the objectives stated above.
