preliminary design of an approximately 13,500 m3 stormwater storage facility per the
recommendations of the City’s Stormwater Master Plan (ISL, 2020).
The purpose of the storm pond design is to mitigate flooding concerns within the Downtown
Core. A major stormwater trunk line is significantly undersized according to the stormwater
modelling completed for the 2020 Stormwater Master Plan and pipe upgrades are not
considered feasible, as such a stormwater detention pond was recommended to provide the
storage and release rate required to mitigate risk of downstream flooding
