Description
Notice is hereby given that the Province of British Columbia, as represented by the Ministry of Citizens’ Services, Real Property Division (RPD), is contemplating making a direct award of a contract to the University of British Columbia (the “Supplier”).
The high-level details of the contemplated contract are described below:
In early 2021, the Province established a Building Information Modeling (BIM) sub-committee to review and confirm how the Province could manage its building system information.
The BIM Working Group was developed to assess the benefits and risks of BIM implementation throughout the provincial government and its affiliated agencies (phase 1) and if approved, to develop a detailed roadmap for implementation and pilot of several BIM projects (phase 2).
Before the phase 2 pilot projects can be implemented, the Province must conduct extensive engagement sessions across government and its agencies and develop a BIM implementation framework.
The Province is intending to continue the relationship with the University of British Columbia (UBC) and extend the contract to commence engagement within government and its agencies to establish the implementation framework. UBC will also support the Province in drafting an RFP for a BIM consultant to support in the development of BIM requirements and support through the pilot stages of the BIM projects.
