Description
The CRT requires the services of one consulting physician, or multiple consulting physicians working in a cooperative and coordinated manner. The consulting physician role involves:
1. Helping the CRT recruit qualified independent health professionals (IHPs) to provide independent medical examinations (IMEs) in accident claims disputes, as part of the CRT’s roster of independent health professionals (IHP roster);
2. Providing advice to CRT members who adjudicate disputes to help them decide whether an IME is required, based on the facts or evidence provided in a dispute before the CRT;
3. Advising CRT members in setting the questions an IME must address and selecting which member of the IHP roster has the appropriate medical expertise to answer those questions;
4. Providing training to CRT members and employees on medical matters relevant to their responsibilities in resolving accident claims disputes; and
5. Providing both general and specific medical advice to CRT members in CRT accident claims disputes, as required.
The consulting physician will not provide opinions on the appropriate outcomes of individual accident claims disputes. The consulting physician’s role is to facilitate CRT members’ use of medical evidence, including IMEs, to make decisions in those disputes.

Contract duration
