Description
1816 lineal meters of New Construction and Installation of 1-15m portable bridges on the Beaver Forest Service Road system.
The contractor may apply for an exemption with BC Wildfire Service to install the bridge during fire season when regular road construction is not permitted.
Environmental Management Plans to be followed throughout the project.
Reduced Risk Timing Window for Fish and/or Amphibians: “2022-12-19 Beaver Lake FSR Bridge SC-8675 EMP_SDMP” for details.
Refer to “Schedule F - Works Completion” for important milestone dates within Reduced Risk Timing Window for Fish and/or Amphibians.
All potential rock quarries are to be approved by a BCTS Ministry Representative.
The portable bridge and components are to be picked up and transported to site from A.Woods Pit Campbell River. BCTS requires a minimum of 5 business days’ notice, in writing prior to transportation of bridge structure and components to ensure both parties agree to the condition of the structure and components.
BCTS will supply a P.Eng. as Engineer of Record and a RP.Bio as an Environmental Monitor(EM) for all areas of this contract. The contractor will be responsible for survey control. A detailed work site schedule is to be submitted 5 business days prior to commencement of bridge installation works to ensure P.Eng and EM are onsite for all required works. The contractors survey control can NOT be provided by the same company as the Engineer of Record that BCTS is suppling for this contract.
The successful contractor will require a signed Forest License to Cut (FLtC) prior to falling timber for the project.
BCTS will require a minimum of 5 business days notice, in writing prior to any contractor requested field visits / inspections to site.
The successful contractor will be responsible for applying through the District for a Road Use Permits to access site. Furthermore, the successful contractor will be responsible for a road use agreement with Western Forest Products on Goat Lake and Stillwater mainlines.
Contract deliverables will be planned for completion throughout the term of the contract (refer to Schedule F) to meet the business area targets. See the Schedule A, C and I for specific works required.

The lowest priced or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.
Be aware that BCTS has made changes to its EMS and SFM programs to meet the updated 2022 Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Forest Management Standard. Changes impacting BCTS clients include new training requirements (Table 008-1, 008-1A, Tailgate Training, SFI Awareness documents, and new Indigenous rights awareness training, as well as changes to training frequency and a new continuing education component). In addition, note changes to EMS/SFM Environmental Field Procedures and Incident Reporting Procedures which occurred June 1, 2022.
Supervisors and workers will need to be familiar with these changes prior to commencement of operations. These documents are posted on our external EMS/SFM website at BC Timber Sales - Business Area Environmental Management System (EMS) and Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) - Province of British Columbia (https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/industry/forestry/bc-timber-sales/forest-certification/ems-sfm).
