Description
This contract is with BC Timber Sales in the Kootenay Business area and the project consists of 6.5km of new road construction. The road construction involves all phases of road construction including timber cut and removal, end haul, drill and blast rock, placed rock fills and surfacing. All culvert installs over 800mm must be compacted with a 1000lb plate compactor in 300mm lifts. This work is included in the “Culvert Install” payment category.
All road sections must be constructed in accordance with Appendix II Road Design and Cross Sections unless otherwise directed. Changes will be required where material types do not match the design.
Supply, delivery and installation of all culverts are the responsibility of the contractor.
Timing and Scheduling Restrictions
Due to existing Grizzly GAR order, NO access or works are permitted on the West Big Sheep FSR from May 1 to June 20.
**Due to Migratory Bird constraints the Right of Way Falling MUST be completed OUTSIDE of the April 23 to August 1 restriction period OR a walk through will need to be completed by a BCTS employee to determine if there are nesting migratory birds. If a nest if found, Right of Way Falling will cease and construction on this section cannot proceed. **

Tender submissions must be submitted in accordance with the terms and conditions specified in the tender package.
If your bid deposit is in the form of cash, money order, certified cheque or bank draft, you will not be able to e-bid. See allowable submission delivery method(s) above. Also see Conditions of Tender for acceptable bid securities.
The lowest priced or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.
Be aware that BCTS has made changes to its EMS and SFM programs to meet the updated 2022 Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Forest Management Standard. Changes impacting BCTS clients include new training requirements (Table 008-1, 008-1A, Tailgate Training, SFI Awareness documents, and new Indigenous rights awareness training, as well as changes to training frequency and a new continuing education component). In addition, note changes to EMS/SFM Environmental Field Procedures and Incident Reporting Procedures which occurred June 1, 2022.
Supervisors and workers will need to be familiar with these changes prior to commencement of operations. These documents are posted on our external EMS/SFM website at BC Timber Sales - Business Area Environmental Management System (EMS) and Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) - Province of British Columbia (https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/industry/forestry/bc-timber-sales/forest-certification/ems-sfm).
