Description
The Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship (WLRS) is requesting proposals for the execution of Phase II of the Together for Wildlife Community Science Framework, a pivotal facet of Action 6 from the Together for Wildlife strategy. This framework aims to elevate wildlife and habitat stewardship across British Columbia by actively involving citizens in data collection and monitoring and identifying pathways to connect this information to decision making. Building on the foundation set by Phase I, Phase II aims to hone the operational facets of the proposed community science actions via workshops with relevant Provincial government staff and, potentially, representatives from environmental NGOs, community science groups, academia, and key community members. The overarching objective is to devise actionable strategies for the uptake of information into priority initiatives throughout the Province, congruent with the vision of Together for Wildlife.
The successful bidder will possess a comprehension of the Natural Resources Sector, bolstered by a demonstrated acumen in navigating government procedures to ensure the alignment of the Community Science Framework Phase II with the successful implementation of the Together for Wildlife strategy and adhering to relevant regulatory frameworks.
Contractors will be entrusted with designing and facilitating dynamic engagement sessions (workshops or otherwise) tailored to address all the recommendation categories identified during Phase I of the Community Science Framework (i.e. Implementation, Engagement, Building Community, Data Quality and Coverage, Accessible Data, and Priorities for Project Leads). The successful bidder will also prepare Action Plans for prioritized recommendations.
To understand and gather all relevant operational details for each action, we seek a participatory approach, harnessing brainstorming sessions, group exercises, and targeted discussions to foster collaboration and catalyze inventive solutions. Proposals with alternative strategies that could achieve the same or better results will be considered.
Contractors are expected to showcase a robust track record in effective workshop facilitation (or on a different method if proposed) and a thorough understanding of the Natural Resources Sector. Expertise in fostering community engagement and advancing scientific initiatives constitutes a decisive advantage.
Further details as to the scope of this opportunity and the requirements can be found within this RFP.
