MCBRIDE - Domestic Hot Water Storage Tank Replacement
Solicitation number BCN662740005

Description
The McBride and District Hospital currently uses two 535 US gallon tanks for hot water storage. The tanks were installed in 1962, and the two tanks are overdue for replacement. Further, the two tanks developed leaks in 2022; while repaired, this is only a temporary fix until complete replacement could occur. The work is expected to progress in three parts:
1. The existing incinerator room, which is currently being used for storage, will have new housekeeping pads installed for the proposed four 250 US gallon replacement tanks and a relocated drain system, which will also need to connect to the incoming domestic water station drain valve located on the other side of the incinerator room wall. Updated lighting should be installed while work is ongoing in this room. Electrical
installation and connections for any pumps will need to be accessed through the concrete wall into the adjacent space.
2. The pre-existing tanks will be separated from the main piping system, and the system will be swapped over to the new tanks.
3. The pre-existing tanks will have to be dismantled as needed to remove. The mechanical space where these tanks are is tight with piping and water systems.
Matterport scans have become increasingly more useful at Northern Health facilities, and we therefore invite the proponents to include a line item for these scans.
Proponents shall consider the following key risks and constraints in developing their proposals:
• Limited availability and reliability of existing record drawings.
• Requirement to maintain continuous domestic hot water service
• Active hospital environment with operational constraints
• Hazardous materials
• Limited space and access within mechanical areas
