Description
- Swansea University, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, Population Data Science Department, Wales, United Kingdom is a co-collaborator in the design, development, and implementation of the Health Data Platform BC (HDPBC). NRDA (National Research Data Appliance) developed by Swansea University is part of the HDPBC solution.
- The Ministry of Health has been contracting with Swansea since 2019 and we believe that they are the only proven provider that can meet our needs.
- Swansea has developed approaches and software that scale and translate well in BC given the similarities in population size (i.e. BC, 5.4M; Wales 3.2M) and comparable public health care systems.
- Swansea is recognized as an international expert in trusted research environments with a long history working with public health sector partners at the local and national levels, and local and global research partners.
- Swansea facilitates collaboration between organizations globally through a federated approach to share processes, operating models, user-based documentation and best practices positioning them to provide expert strategic guidance to position BC for the future.
- Swansea has developed methodologies and approaches to safely facilitate the timely use of health and population data for analysis and research following industry recognized standards and best practices.
- A knowledge exchange with such an eminent and collaborative institution will help to expedite development of BC’s health research infrastructure and advance areas of shared interest such as trusted research environments, linking diverse forms of data, artificial intelligence and natural language processing, as well as fostering international collaboration.

The estimated contract period will be 48 month(s).
