    Description
Request for Qualifications (RFQ):  Trainers-in-Training: FREP Stand-Level Retention Assessments

The purpose of this RFQ is to qualify Consultants for participation in training sessions led by experienced trainers in the FREP Stand-Level Retention Protocol, with the objective of increasing the future pool of experienced suppliers as described in OP23FHQ262- Experienced Trainers: FREP Stand-Level Retention Assessments.

The qualified list of Suppliers under this RFQ would be used for the following Services:
    • Attending Ministry training in the FREP Stand-Level Retention Protocol led by an experienced trainer.
    • Co-Training Ministry staff in stand-level retention assessment methods as per the FREP Stand-Level Retention Protocol.
    • Assisting District staff or experienced trainers in the collection of stand-level retention assessment data using methods as per the FREP Stand-Level Retention Protocol.

The Forest Science, Planning and Practices Branch will provide for stand-level retention-specific training to the successful contractors. The supplier will be required to travel to various resource districts across the province in order to provide the services.

The Forest and Range Evaluation Program (FREP) is a foundational element of the Forest and Range Practices Act (FRPA)Its vision is to collect and communicate trusted and scientifically robust natural resource monitoring information to inform decision making and improve resource management outcomes.

The FREP Stand-Level Retention Protocol outlines a methodology for collecting data about stand structure, retained dispersed trees, wildlife tree retention areas, and coarse woody debris within harvested cutblocks.  The data collected helps determine whether Forest and Range Practices Act (FRPA) standards and practices are meeting government objectives for stand-level biodiversity.

The Stand-Level Retention Protocol was developed for Ministry personnel to carry out field-based monitoring in the various districts across the province. Qualified trainers are needed to train and mentor Ministry staff so that they are equipped to collect monitoring data as per the FREP protocol.
