Description
Notice is hereby given that the Ministry of Forests is contemplating making a direct award of a
contract to Yekooche First Nation (the “Supplier”).
The high-level details of the contemplated contract are generally described below.
The work involves cutting immature conifers in the understory, danger trees in the overstory,
pruning lower branches of retained trees, and piling and burning debris. Activities will be
completed mechanically and manually. The objective of this work is to reduce the risk of wildfire
ignition, spread, and intensity to enhance public and first responder safety in the event a
wildfire interacts with the area adjacent to the community of Yekooche.
Forest fuel reduction services are required in the Yekooche CLWRR Project Area, on a
portion of Treatment Unit (TU) 1 and a portion of TU2 of the Yekooche Crown Fuel
Management Prescription (“the Prescription”).
Pile burning is required on 5.2ha of TU1 that was not completed last year.
Only approximately 4.1ha of TU2 (of the entire 22ha) will be treated this year. Please see
attached map to view area included in this year’s contract.
Services include: wildlife/danger tree assessments, manual tree falling and forwarding,
manual tree pruning, manual surface fuel reduction and piling, and manual pile burning.
Detailed requirements for each Service are described in Schedule A of the Draft
Contract.
The Proponent will be provided with a FRPA Sec 52 authorization to carry out the
operational work.
