Description
Located on the north shore of Vancouver, next to the Burrard Inlet Yacht Club, the debris bag or containment boom serves as a central location in the Burrard Inlet where debris and other items that are deemed a hazard to navigation can be placed/transferred to. The debris bag allows for an accumulation of items in a secure facility for final removal via recycling or disposal in a responsible manner.
The debris bag structure consists of timber boom logs, steel piles, and a concrete dock. The timber boom logs, and boom log connections were last replaced in 2010, with a 10-year life expectancy, at the same time the steel piles were installed.
The project will require replacement of the timber log booms with new timber log booms or an equivalent approved material along with associated connections. The existing steel piles and concrete dock will remain.
