VFPA is seeking a qualified contractor to provide dedicated on-water vessel patrol services to monitor anchored vessels covering the entirety of the SGI from the southern end of Gabriola Island to Boundary Pass, including Plumper Sound, Cowichan Bay, Houston Pass, and Trincomali Channel.
The service is based on a 12-hour shift schedule, seven days a week, and year-round. Shift start and end times should cover dusk hours and proponent should make reasonable efforts to maintain consistent shift times.
Southern Gulf Islands Area
The Gulf Islands are a group of islands in the Salish Sea between Vancouver Island and mainland of BC. There are 33 anchorages sites (See Figure A) in the SGI that form 7 groupings of anchorage locations known as Trincomali, Kulleet Bay, Houston Pass, Ladysmith, Captain’s Pass, Cowichan Bay, and Plumper Sound. This area covers approximately 1400 sq. kilometers, 60 km (32 nautical miles) from north to south and 30km (16 nautical miles) from west to east at its widest point.
