Notice is hereby given that Provincial Health Services Authority (“PHSA”) on behalf of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA)is directly awarding a Contract to the following supplier to provide for one (1) unit Biotyper Maldi-Tof Sirius System to Royal Jubilee Hospital (RJH) for a term of 1 year at an estimated value of CAD$ 250K

In accordance with applicable trade agreements, PHSA has chosen not to proceed with a competitive process for the following reason:
- the goods or services can be supplied only by the selected supplier and no alternative or substitute exists for the following reasons:
Currently the Royal Jubilee Hospital is utilizing MALDI Tof system. In order to ensure compatibility with the existing platform, maintain standardization protocols and optimize workflow with the existing MALDI Tof Biotypers and share custom database or spectra, RJH requires an additional MALDI Tof system. BD Maldi Biotyper Sirius is the only analyzer with the compatible software to the current testing for bacterial pathogens in the lab; BD is the sole distributor for this equipment platform in Canada.
Vendors who wish to challenge this decision should submit a detailed written objection for the attention of Fran Zhang by email to fran.zhang@phsa.ca before 2:00pm Pacific Time, February 24, 2023. PHSA will review any and all issues received by this date and provide due consideration to each objection.
