The high-level details of the contemplated contract are generally described below.
Services are directly offered to all offenders but focus on those who identify as indigenous. Services are normally expected to be provided on-site at Ford Mountain Correctional Centre, twelve months per year, at time periods and schedules as decided in discussion with the Deputy Warden of Ford Mountain Correctional Centre.
The scope of work for this requirement includes, but is not limited to:
Provision and coordination of Indigenous cultural education and cultural program(s), Staff Training, Case Management Services, Creating and Maintaining appropriate documentation and program management.
Provide support for Gladue Report workers, disciplinary hearing chairperson(s), and the Right Living Community.
Experience in providing cultural guidance and teaching to indigenous population from a wide range of nations across Canada.
Experience facilitating a wide variety of cultural ceremonies and conducting spiritual services based on teachings of elders and knowledge keepers.
Possess knowledge and understanding of traditional ceremonies, ceremonial objects, traditional practice and protocols, traditional medicines, sacred grounds within the centre including the collection and storage of ceremonial objects and traditional ceremonial medicines.
Possess knowledge and contacts within local indigenous communities that support a high level of cultural programming.
Services are provided by contractor to incarcerated offenders to promote and provide indigenous cultural awareness, provide support, and develop viable release plans and career placements to reduce offending.
