Description
The British Columbia Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is seeking proposals from qualified Proponents to perform the functions of a Construction Director to be part of the Project Team, responsible for overseeing the construction of the Surrey Langley Skytrain Extension Project (the “Project”), including verification of compliance and issues/risk management.
Among other responsibilities, the Construction Director will be responsible for supporting the management and oversight of construction management team, a multi-disciplinary team which consists of Transportation Investment Corporation (“TI Corp”) staff and contractors. The role will also provide leadership and guidance to the team on the risks associated with construction activities that may impact safety, quality, schedule, integrated and concurrent works, traffic management, business access, third party utilities, and any existing conditions. The Construction Director will be responsible for ensuring the team is fulfilling its obligations per the Project Agreement related to technical requirements and construction requirements and activities. Direct previous experience directing the activities noted above as well as experience in a senior construction management role on large transportation projects delivered by design-build or design-build-finance is preferred. The successful Proponent should have experience in a technical leadership role responsible for decisions that consider best value and/or commercial impacts on behalf of an owner.
It is anticipated that the construction will commence in 2024. The term of this contract is for four (4) years commencing from the date of award. At the discretion of the Ministry and subject to available appropriation and satisfactory performance, there is an option-to-renew the term of this agreement for two additional one (1) year periods.
