The annual funding available is $3,572,500.00 per annum.

An initiative of A Pathway to Hope, Integrated Child and Youth (ICY) teams provide wraparound mental health and substance use support to children, youth, and their families/caregivers. Team members include child and youth mental health clinicians, substance use practitioners, ICY Program Leaders, ICY School Based Clinical Counsellors, youth peer support, family/caregiver peer support and Indigenous support subject matter experts. Family peer support is a core position on ICY teams.

The Province is looking to procure a B.C. based vendor to provide family peer support on Integrated Child and Youth teams operating in school districts across the province.

The successful vendor will recruit, hire, train, and support family peer support workers in Integrated Child and Youth team communities across the province (0.5 full time equivalent (FTE) on each ICY team).  A total of 12 family peer support workers will be required for provision for the anticipated service, with 9 workers starting September 1, 2022 in Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows, Richmond and Comox and another 3 workers to be hired and trained shortly after for teams located in the Coast Mountains and Similkameen.

Drawing on their own lived/living experience supporting a child or youth with mental health and/or substance use challenges, family peer support workers will be an integral part of service delivery, offering peer–based mentoring and emotional support, and working collaboratively with families/caregivers or guardians and members of the child or youth’s care team.

The go live date is anticipated to be on September 1, 2022. The successful proponent will be expected to family peer support workers to the five school district communities of Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows (school district (SD) 42), Comox Valley (SD71), Richmond (SD38), Okanagan Similkameen (SD53), and Coast Mountains (SD82), starting with Maple Ridge, Comox and Richmond, followed shortly thereafter in the Okanagan Similkameen and Coast Mountains

Teams will be formed from both existing and newly formed muti-disciplinary positions in communities. Currently, hiring is underway to fill new positions through the following respective employers: Ministry of Health (MoH), Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD), and Ministry of Education and Child Care (MoECC)

By 2024, Integrated Child and Youth teams will be operating in a total of 20 school district communities across British Columbia.

As the service develops, the family peer support workers will need to be located throughout the Province including additional communities to be identified by the Ministry. The expectation is that, as Integrated Child and Youth Teams expand to provide services within new communities across the province, the contractor will ensure that family peer support workers are hired and/or assigned to join the teams.
