    Requirement

Under the DIH initiative, the NRC has established a new defense-oriented R&D lab: the Drone and Flight Autonomy Lab (DFAL). The lab includes new personnel, infrastructure and equipment. New equipment required for the DFAL includes an ALE capability integrated onto full scale helicopter and fixed wing platforms. The timeline from acquisition to installation and to the first research requirement does not allow for any development time for the ALE system. Concept experimentation demands a mature system that has been validated in military operations (TRL 9) with either Canada or an allied country.
