Description
The Impact Assessment Act (IA 2019) provides a framework for the application of the federal environmental effects assessment (EIA). It is a self-assessment process whereby federal authorities consider the environmental impacts of projects before making any irrevocable decisions
for which they have an assignment or jurisdiction that gives them decision-making authority. It should be noted that the last environmental assessment process was conducted under the former Canadian Environmental Assessment Act. (CEAA, 2012), which was also a self-assessment process. (See Environmental impact assessment document 2019-2023)
Therefore, the new impact assessment will be conducted under the Impact Assessment Act (IA 2019) in 2023. (see Environmental impact assessment 2024-2026 document which will be available in 2024)
The mandate of this document is to carry out sediment characterization activities required to comply with specific legislation and requirements of the responsible departments, in particular Environment Canada and the Fisheries Protection Division of Department of Fisheries and Oceans. The physico-chemical laboratory analyses will be used to feed the annual follow-up reports on this mandate.
Contract duration
The estimated contract period will be 28 month(s), with a proposed start date of 2023/04/05.
