REQUIREMENT
Parks Canada’s Southwest Northwest Territories (SWNWT) Field Unit requires a Contractor to execute envelop retrofits on two staff houses located in the community of Fort Chipewyan, Alberta. These single-family style houses are critical to operations in Fort Chipewyan. The goals of the project are to significantly improve the energy efficiency and air tightness of the houses as well as extend the asset life with low maintenance materials.
The structure of these single-family houses is a wood frame with a full depth, partially developed pressure treated wood basement. The existing exterior cladding consists of wood siding, windows, and asphalt shingle roofing.
The scope of the retrofits includes, but not limited to:
• Demolition of existing envelope: wood siding, subtrade behind, existing windows and doors, asphalt shingles and roof insulation.
• New envelope: rigid insulation, waterproofing membrane to wall below grade; metal cladding and cementitious lap siding; vinyl windows; exterior door; metal roof including waterproofing membrane; spray foam insulations and mineral wool insulations in the attic. Air tightness testing will be included in the scope of work.
• All architectural and minor structural work shown on drawings.
