    Description
    The University of Toronto is seeking to shortlist up to four architectural practices for professional services related to the Faculty of Information Revitalization at the Claude T. Bissell Building. This RFSQ represents the first part of a two-stage process; shortlisted Proponents will be invited to submit a response to a subsequent RFP.  

    This project envisions a renovation and expansion to the existing building to achieve "international excellence in research and education in information".   

    Phase 1 (Design and Implementation): 
    •    Minor renovations on the basement level, Fourth and Fifth floors,
    •    Major renovations will take place on the Ground level, Second, Third, and Seventh Floor.
    •    A new entrance located on the Ground floor which is currently half a storey below grade.  A site landscape strategy proposes to      introduce a sunken plaza as a forecourt to the new entrance.
    •    Structural investigations and design to support a future 2 storey addition.
    •    Vertical transportation study to confirm elevator can be extended to new addition.

    Phase 2 (To completion of Schematic Design):
    •    Two additional floors, plus penthouse.
    •    Extension of existing elevator.

    The total gross area for the renovation is 6,812.31 gsm and the addition is 2,295.7 gsm.  The total project gross area is 9,108.01 gsm.
