Two-Channel Yb Chirped Pulse Amplification (CPA) Laser

Solicitation number 45462-2A-RFP

Publication date

Closing date and time 2026/07/17 15:00 EDT

    Description
The Yb laser needs to produce two optically synchronized outputs. One output must be higher than 3 mJ. The pulse duration is to be tunable from 450 fs to 10 ps. The second output is larger than 5 microjoules and shorter than 250 fs. The latter channel is used to pump white-light generation in solids, and the former is for pumping an optical parametric amplifier seeded with the white light. See Mandatory Requirement 1.2 for further details on the two (2) channels.

    Mandatory Technical Requirements:

    1. Yb CPA Laser
    1.1 Central Wavelength λc must = 1030 ± 10 nm
1.2 The laser must be capable of achieving two outputs simultaneously. Combined, E must be ≥ 4mJ/pulse max output energy at up to 5 kHz (Channel 1 must be: ≥ 3,980 uJ compressed + Channel 2 must be: ≥ 20 uJ uncompressed).
1.3 Pulse Duration full width at half maximum (FWHM) must be ≤ 450 fs for the high-energy output (tunable up to 10 ps)
1.4 Must include an external compressor to compress the low-energy channel uncompressed beam to ≤ 250 fs
    1.5 Repetition rate must be: 1 kHz ≤ frep ≤ 200 kHz.
1.6 Power stability must be: ≤ 0.5% Root Mean Square (RMS)
    1.7 Output beam quality must be: M2 ≤ 1.3
    1.8 Polarization must be Linear
1.9 Power must be either 120 VAC or 208 VAC, single phase, < 2 kW, without the need for a transformer. A transformer will not be accepted.
1.10 Pulse selection: Any base repetition rate division (the repetition rate must be the maximum value divided by any power of 2; such as 2,4,8, etc.)
1.11 All laser settings, functions and diagnostics must be done through a standalone computer
1.12 The proposed solution must include a standalone computer capable of running all necessary software. All necessary peripherals must also be included (monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc).
1.13 Must include interlock and emergency stop connections
1.14 Must include a water-to-water cooled chiller suitable for the instrument
1.15 Must include an integral pulse picker to effectively divide PRR

    2. Other Requirements
2.1 Installation and training for a minimum of five (5) users must be included.
2.2 The instrument must operate for a minimum of 8 consecutive hours; 5 days per week.
2.3 For all software included in the proposal, licenses for a minimum of 10 users must be included.
2.4 Must include a minimum of one (1) year of warranty on parts and labor.
2.5 Must be capable of providing up to a total of 5 years of extended warranty.
2.6 All electrical components must have CSA (Canadian Standards Association) certification or accepted equivalent as per Electrical Safety Authority Recognized Certification Mark at the following link: https://esasafe.com/electrical-products/recognized-certification-marks/ Otherwise, all electrical components must be able to undergo the applicable electrical inspection, and/or, certification, without voiding the system warranty.
