    Description
    This Request for Proposals (the “RFP”) is an invitation by the University of Ottawa (the “University”) to prospective proponents to submit proposals for a Dual-output optical parametric amplifierfunded by the Canada Foundation for Innovation and the Ontario Research Fund.

    THE DELIVERABLES: 
    The project will establish Canada’s first two-dimensional infrared (2D-IR) spectrometer to support advanced research in chemistry, physics, materials science, photocatalysis, electrocatalysis, and cavity-enabled polaritonic chemistry. The spectrometer will be used to investigate ultrafast molecular structure, dynamics, and reaction mechanisms through multidimensional infrared spectroscopy. The requested optical parametric amplifier (OPA) is a key component of the system and will provide the tunable optical outputs required for the generation of mid-infrared pulses and optical excitation wavelengths used in advanced spectroscopic experiments.

    The requested equipment is a dual-output optical parametric amplifier (OPA) intended to operate with the University's existing Spectra-Physics Solstice Ace ultrafast laser system, which serves as the pump source for the spectrometer platform. The OPA generates two independently tunable outputs from a common white-light continuum seed. One output is used with a difference-frequency generation (DFG) stage to produce tunable mid-infrared pulses for two-dimensional infrared (2D-IR) spectroscopy, while the second output provides independently tunable radiation that can be frequency converted to visible and ultraviolet wavelengths for use as an optical excitation source. The dual-output configuration supports multidimensional infrared spectroscopy, transient IR, transient 2D-IR, and photochemical studies by providing both excitation and probing wavelengths from a single integrated platform.

    MANDATORY TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Optical Parametric Amplifier
    1.1 - Must have two independently tunable outputs (combined signal and idler) generated from the same white light continuum seed
    1.2 - Must be optimized to be pumped with 5 W, 10 kHz, 35 fs titanium sapphire output of a Spectra-Physics Solstice Ace
    1.3 - Output energy must be adapted to provide one more powerful output, and one less powerful output. The precise specification must be arranged in consultation due to uncertainties in the laser spec/performance
    2. Other Requirements
    2.1 - Installation and training must be included
    2.2 - Must include one (1) year warranty on parts and labour
    2.3 - Must include one (1) year phone and email support
    2.4 - All electrical components must have CSA (Canadian Standards Association) certification or an accepted equivalent as per Electrical Safety Authority Recognized Certification Mark at the following link: https://esasafe.com/electrical-products/recognized-certification-marks/ . Otherwise, all electrical components must be able to undergo the applicable electrical inspection, and/or, certification, without voiding the system warranty.
