EQAO is responsible for a range of assessment initiatives including the design, administration, scoring and reporting of comprehensive province-wide assessments, as well as making recommendations to the public and the Minister of Education on the quality and effectiveness of elementary and secondary English- and French-language schools and school boards in Ontario. EQAO is an agency of the Government of Ontario governed by a Board of Directors, comprised of up to nine members, and a Chief Executive Officer.
