    Description
The Visitor Centre at Fort William Historical Park (FWHP) is a modern building with an area of approximately 15,800 square feet. The Visitor Centre is an Assembly Occupancy and contains a large multi-purpose hall, ticketing office, gift shop and commercial kitchen. The existing HVAC system at the Visitor Centre was installed over 25 years ago and many components have reached the end of their useful life, require replacement, and do not meet current energy efficiency standards.

An engineering study (relevant sections of which are attached in appendix A) was completed in March 2022 and the scope of the study was to assess the HVAC systems for 16 buildings throughout FWHP and provide recommendations to repair, replace, or upgrade the components. The study concludes that most of the buildings throughout the historic site require significant upgrades to their respective HVAC systems, with most components identified as being in “critical” or “poor” condition.
