Description
The Kejimkujik CAPMoN (Canadian Air and Precipitation Monitoring Network) station is located in a rural area approximately 2 hour drive from Halifax. It is a research and monitoring facility which forms part of Environment Canada’s national network of CAPMoN Stations. The main focus of the site is air and precipitation monitoring; however, additional programs are being conducted, such as instrumentation for atmospheric aerosols. The site has been operating since the early 1980s. Much of the work involves monitoring, observing and recording automated instrument readings as well as daily, weekly, monthly and bi-monthly checks and maintenance of equipment. Collecting, transporting and shipping of precipitation samples is also a significant part of the work.
