Description
Chairing and helping prepare for up to ten (10) half to full-day meetings per year, provides ongoing support on ethics reviews, chairs periodic sub-committee meetings via electronic or teleconference means as required, conducts reviews of routine cases outside the context of formal meetings, and supports policy development in ethics for research that involves human subjects. The work is complex, sensitive, and variable. The services of the Chair call for a profound knowledge of the current practices in human subjects research and be knowledgeable of the unique operating environment, blend of science and industry, and client-focus of NRC research programs and services. While work on site at NRC, aside from board meetings, will be limited, the Chair will be called upon to respond to ad hoc requests for guidance and advice in a timely manner.
