CCMC provides a product evaluation service for the building code regulators in Canada (i.e Provinces and Territories). A manufacturer of an innovative surface-applied preservative for mould resistance has applied CCMC for product evaluation of their proprietary preservative. Based on the results of the evaluation, CCMC will provide a statement of performance. Based on this CCMC statement of performance, other decision makers, regulators, architects, engineers and property owners, will then base their decision for acceptance of this treated lumber and sheathing for their building.

The contract is being awarded to FPInnovations as they possess: (i) the knowledge to develop the appropriate conditioning to represent exposure during construction in coastal and non-coastal areas, (ii) the preservationists/mycologists with extensive knowledge/authorship of CSA O80 and AWPA standards, and (iii) are an accredited lab to develop tests and conduct the testing in this domain of assessing performance of wood preservatives.
Thus, FPInnovations provides scientific and engineering expertise in the field of wood science, commensurate with the level of expertise provided by NRC which to meet the expectations of our users and the Canadian regulatory community.
