Optometry Services for Inmates – Mission Institution This requirement is for: The Correctional Service of Canada, Mission Institution, Pacific Region. Trade agreement: This procurement is not subject to any trade agreement. Tendering procedures: All interested suppliers may submit a bid. Competitive Procurement Strategy: lowest priced compliant bid. Set-aside under the Procurement Strategy for Aboriginal Business: This procurement is not subject to any set-asides for Aboriginal Suppliers. Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement: This procurement is not subject to a Comprehensive Land Claims Agreement. Security Requirements: This contract includes security requirements. Nature of Requirements: The following is a summary of the statement of work for this requirement. The Correctional Service Canada has a requirement for the provision of optometry services to offenders at Mission Institution. Objectives: “Every inmate shall be provided, in accordance with current directives, with the essential medical and dental care that he requires.” (Corrections and Conditional Release Act) 1.3 Tasks: The Optometrist is responsible for the provision of optometric services to the inmates by providing the following services: 1.3.1 Examining the eyes to rule out pathology. 1.3.2 Referring the inmate to an ophthalmologist and/or medical practitioner as appropriate. 1.3.3 Performing tests of visual acuity such as: 1.1.3.1 measurement of refractive errors; 1.1.3.2 measurement of full field perimetry; 1.1.3.3 annual eye examinations on diabetics. 1.3.4 Prescribing corrective lenses. 1.3.5 Verifying prescription of glasses, fitting and adjusting frames as required. 1.3.6 Fitting contact lenses when medically indicated. 1.3.7 Documenting findings in patients’ health care record. 1.3.8 Maintain a list of any known diabetic clients in each institution and arrange for annual or biannual follow-ups as deemed necessary. All Equipment and supplies necessary for the Optometry Services are provided by CSC. Deliverables: Conduct optometry sessions at the institutions named above. Sessional clinics will normally be up to 3 (three) hour duration, and will be scheduled at a time which is mutually convenient for both the Contractor and the Department.
