Description
Environment Canada is leading studies on the determination of chemicals of emerging concern in surface waters and fish in Areas of Concern in the Great Lakes. In this program water samples have been collected from sites near waste treatment outfalls. Fish have also been collected from these same areas and plasma samples from the fish are available. The goal of the study is to analyse these samples for a large suite of chemicals of emerging concern (CECs) to get an indication of what may be detectable in both water and fish. Previous programs have looked only at waste water effluents. An initial reconnaissance in 2013-14 found 10 of 127 CECs in fish plasma and up to 50 of 127 target analytes in surface waters. Many of these CECs are priorities for Chemical Management Plan and have been reported by Environment Canada monitoring of waste waters. However few government or university laboratories are analyzing the large suite that we have selected. Therefore this request for proposal is seeking bids from analytical labs with this capability.
