This requirement is open only to those invited TBIPS Supply Arrangement Holders who qualified under the categories for: I.7 Platform Analyst – Level 2 The following SA Holders have been invited to submit a proposal. Description of the requirement: Industry Canada requires the services of a Platform Analysts – Intermediate to address the coding, testing, deployment, support and management of Group Policy Objects for a corporate desktop environment (Computer and User Configurations). This requirement is for 1 Platform Analyst, Level 2 now and the possibility for a second on “an as and when required” basis. The resource(s) will be required to have a strong knowledge of MS Group Policy Objects in a MS Active Directory environment as well as the tools used to configure, publish and manage GPOs in a corporate distributed computing environment and must be able to provide subject matter expertise to stakeholders with regards to Group Policy Objects and industry best practices and standards. The Platform Analyst(s) must have a Secret security clearance. The roles and responsibility will include: o Design and development: includes gathering and documenting of technical and end user requirements, provision of technical options and recommendations to meet requirements. All recommendations/designs relating to security aspects must be vetted and approved by the IT Security group. Where appropriate, design and development includes a Backout/Rollback process / software. Where appropriate, design and development includes task automation for AD using industry standard tools such as Windows PowerShell. o Documentation: includes development and maintenance of technical configuration specifications related to GPO settings and configurations. This may include technical configuration details (ie: identify important configuration items, default settings, setting alternatives, recommended settings and justifications for recommendations), and architecture and data flow diagrams. Documentation may also include technical installation guides, documented processes (ie: operational processes, processes for Backout/Rollback, etc.), technical user communications, and technical support documentation, including FAQ’s and Knowledge Base material. When appropriate, contribute to end-user documentation / communiques. o Integration: includes ensuring seamless integration of AD changes with: IC Standard desktop operating system and IC standard applications; corporate and line-of-business desktop software tools and applications (working with software custodians to accomplish this); unique Industry Canada business requirements, including Industry Canada kiosks, testing environments, boardrooms and training facilities as well as other business specific special purpose environments within IC (CIPO, SITT, CB, CRC, etc.). o Testing: includes development of engineering test plans and scripts for GPOs, execution of test scripts and documentation of testing results (test reports). Where appropriate, this includes testing of the Backout/Rollback processes and software, as well as validation of any documented guides or processes. This area of work also includes support for testing and integration of GPOs with Industry Canada desktop software tools and applications. o Implementation/deployment: must adhere to IC service management standards and processes, and for significant changes may require preparation of a documented rollout strategy addressing technical migration/implementation (including alignment with other changing components), communications (end user and/or technical), operational process changes, and/or support changes. Implementation / migration may include a “prototype”, where changes are introduced to a small controlled subset of production users/computers, and results are closely monitored. o Maintenance: includes GPO source code management (with supporting documentation) using industry standard tools, best practices and procedures. o Reporting: includes design, development, testing and generation of AD and/or GPO related reports. o Support: includes support of GPO’s in test, pre-production and production environments. Support activities span all of Incident, Problem, Change and Release management; and. o Other AD related activities: including contributing to the weekly GPO Management meetings, providing AD subject matter expertise to stakeholders on tools used to facilitate management of AD, and other related duties, as required.
