    Description
Environment Canada has a requirement for a professional service for out the maintenance and monitoring of the Biosphere’s mechanical systems.

Regular maintenance comprises approximately 80% of the mandate and shall be spread out over at least three (3) visits per week. The remaining 20% is attributable to work performed outside of regular hours, i.e. evenings, nights, weekends and statutory holidays. As detailed in the Statement of Work, Annex “A”

The period of the contract is from November 1st, 2015 to October 30th, 2017, plus possibility of two (02) years extension option, one year each.

The Biosphere uses an open-loop geothermal system to meet the building’s heating and air conditioning needs. Submersible pumps transport water from the water table over 300 feet below the ground’s surface to plate heat exchangers inside the building. Energy is absorbed or released, as needed, and the water is returned to the ground source by means of injection wells. On the other side of the exchangers, water is circulated in a closed loop that supplies over 50 heat pumps. These heat pumps absorb heat from, or release heat to, the water in this thermal loop to either heat or cool the building. Other equipment, such as wetlands for natural wastewater treatment, also contributes to the green operation of the building.

The work team must consist of at least two persons, namely:
-A main resource (technician) who will maintain and monitor the Biosphere’s mechanical systems.
-A backup resource who will replace the main technician as needed.
