Development of Crop Profile Frameworks and Collection of Pest Management Data to Update the National Nursery Ornamental and Floriculture Crop Profiles

This project is comprised of two parts: the implementation of Phase 2 is dependent on the receipt and approval of deliverables of Phase 1, and acceptance of the proposed framework(s) by AAFC.
Phase 1:
•	To develop a framework for reporting pest information in the profiles, taking into consideration the complexity of the ornamentals industry. This framework must be compatible with the established AAFC crop profile format and amenable to regular updating (every three years).
•	To adapt lists of generic IPM practices for nursery crops (disease, insect/ mite and weed pests) and floriculture crops (disease and insect/mite) to be used for data collection in the updating of pest management practices.
•	To develop two “Table of Contents”, one each for the nursery crop and floriculture crop profiles that reflect the developed profile frameworks.

Phase 2 – upon acceptance by AAFC of the framework proposed in Phase 1 of the project:

•	To collect designated pest occurrence and pest management data/information for nursery ornamental and floriculture crops in Canada using data collection forms provided by AAFC.
•	To compile national crop pest management / pesticide risk reduction issues facing the nursery and floriculture industries.
•	To revise draft nursery ornamental and floriculture crop profile texts (two) so that they provide a concise, up-to-date snapshot of the nursery and floriculture industries and cover main pests and their management (maximum 75 pages each).
