Description
(a) This bid solicitation is being issued to satisfy the requirement for the Department of Defence (DND) move into the Carling Campus. This RFP for Wired Intra-Building Network (WIBN) Technical Specification applies to functionality to be included in the procurement of switches and routers, more specifically, in the context of procurement initiatives as it pertains to new intra-building networks. The purpose of this RFP is to define the minimum technical specifications required by the components of the WIBN located at Carling Campus. This document will provide guidance as to what technical specifications and features should be supported by each group (access, aggregation and core) of device within the WIBN.
(b) It is intended to result in the award of a contract for three (3) years plus two (2) one year options.
(c) On May 28, 2012, the Government of Canada announced on the Government Electronic Tendering Service that it had invoked the National Security Exception under the trade agreements in respect of procurements related to email, networks and data centres for Shared Services Canada. As a result, this requirement is subject to the National Security Exception.
