   Any tender received after the above noted time will be considered late and will be returned to the sender unopened. Tenders may be revised by email, letter or fax (613) 991-4545 provided the tender and revision(s) are both received prior to Tender Closing Time.

   Nature of the Work:

   The scope of work consists of the furnishing of all plant, labour, equipment, and material for the construction of a new concrete launchway in Grate’s Cove, NL. The project is to be completed in strict accordance with the specification and accompanying drawings, and subject to all terms and conditions of the Contract.

   The project work will consist of, but will not necessarily be limited to, the following:

• Demolition and removal of the existing asphalt surfaced uplands area and the installation of a new concrete slab on grade in the area noted on the drawings.

• Supply and installation of a new concrete launchway, complete with treated timber cribwork (including a concrete filled toe crib), and reinforced concrete slab on grade, as indicated on the drawings. Excavation and busting/blasting of the harbour bottom may be required to seat cribs at the minimum elevations shown on the drawings.

• Supply and installation of drilled and grouted dowel bars for the concrete filled crib, as noted on the drawings.

• Supply and installation of rip rap scour protection along the side of the launchway, as indicated on the drawings.

• Supply and installation of treated dimension timber coping, wheelguard, wheelguard blocking and running strip, as noted on drawings

• Dredging as noted on the drawings.

FAMILIARIZATION WITH SITE

Before submitting a bid, bidders can visit the site and its surroundings, at their own expense, to review and verify the form, nature, and extent of the work, materials needed for the completion of the work, the means of access to the site, severity, exposure and uncertainty of weather, soil conditions, any accommodations they may require, and in general shall obtain all necessary information as to risks, contingencies and other circumstances which may influence or affect their bid. No allowance shall be made subsequently in this connection on account or error or negligence to properly observe and determine the conditions that will apply.

Contractors, bidders, or those they invite to site are to review specification Section 01 35 29.06 – Health and Safety Requirements before visiting site. Take all appropriate safety measures for any visit to site, either before or after acceptance of bid.

Bidders should note that all questions regarding this request for proposals must be submitted in writing, no later than May 13, 2016, 2 pm (2:00 hours) EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME to the contract authority. The department may be unable to respond to questions submitted after that date.

Fisheries and Oceans Canada will not necessarily accept the lowest or any of the tenders received and reserves the right to reject any and all tenders received which shall be final and at the sole discretion of the Department.
