Description
The Meteorological Service of Canada (MSC), a branch of Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) operate a GOES satellite reception network to receive satellite data that is broadcast from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES). GOES satellites provide near-continuous weather information used for operational meteorology, providing mission-critical satellite imagery and products to the MSC forecasting programs. The MSC currently operates 11 GOES reception stations at 7 sites (Dartmouth, Montreal, Dorval, Trenton, Downsview, Edmonton, and Vancouver).
