Through this RFI, SSC is looking at gathering information on PDF solutions capabilities and how these solutions handle the full cycle of creating, editing, viewing, and printing PDF documents while maintaining portability and long term preservation of these documents. SSC has also gathered information from selected government departments and agencies on their current PDF usage. This information has helped form a requirements pool that provided the basis of this RFI. The same exercise also helped define selective use cases, and grouping users into three profiles; basic, advanced, and specialized:
- Basic Profile: This profile of users would mainly have the basic capabilities of creating, editing, viewing, and printing PDF documents.
- Advanced Profile: This profile of users would have more advanced features such as redacting, enhanced search, validating PDFs against archiving and accessibility standards, etc.
- Specialized Profile: This profile of users would have specialized features to include integration capabilities with applications such as document management systems, databases, etc.
To that end, SSC is seeking responses from industry through this RFI that would help complete the definition of these profiles plus verifying capabilities and functionalities offered by varied solutions.
