Objective:

^{The goal of this project is to translate various documents from text to a series of videos in American Sign Language (ASL) and Langue des signes du Québécois (LSQ).}

Background Statement:

The Government of Canada has committed to ensuring greater accessibility and opportunities for Canadians with disabilities through the development of federal accessibility legislation. The Prime Minister of Canada has mandated the Minister to lead a broad public engagement with provinces, territories, municipalities, and stakeholders that will lead to the passage of federal accessibility legislation.

The Government of Canada seeks to ensure that the development of accessibility legislation honours the disability community’s principle of “nothing about us, without us.” To achieve this, care must be taken to reflect the range of views and populations impacted by potential legislation. By conducting an engagement that is as inclusive and as accessible as possible, the Government of Canada will be in a position to implement effective and meaningful accessibility legislation.

The provision of ASL and LSQ translation of various documents into videos will help support the participation of individuals requiring the service to participate in the engagement process on an equal basis with others.

Proposed period of contract:
