    5P300-16-5664 Sir george-Étienne Cartier pedestrian bridge rehabilitation

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK

    The work covered by this contract relates to the rehabilitation of the deck and the approaches of the Sir George-Étienne Cartier Pedestrian Bridge, located on the Lachine Canal in Montreal, Québec includes:

    1) Installation of a temporary confinement shelter;

    2) Construction of a pedestrian bridge at the Lock No.4 and the approaches.

    3) Demolition of the deck slab of the pedestrian bridge;

    4) Demolition and reconstruction of the abutments;

    5) Cleaning and painting of the existing steel elements;

    6) Implementation of the new deck (metallic false decking, drains, concrete, reinforcement steel, trusses and angles with studs);

    7) Replacement of expansion joints at both approaches of the pedestrian bridge;

    8) Excavations and backfill at both approaches;

    9) Pavement rehabilitation at both approaches;

    10) Concrete reparation of abutment walls;

    11) Signage and traffic management during construction;

    12) Bridge maintenance and snow removal at Lock No.4 during the duration of the work;

    13) All activities incidental to the work.

    The work will generate the full closure of the pedestrian bridge throughout this period. A pedestrian bridge is to be constructed at Lock No.4.

    The pedestrian bridge to be constructed shall respect all technical requirements described in the contract documents.

    OPTIONAL Site Visit

    It is recommended that the bidders attend the site visit at the designated date and time to examine the scope of the work required and the existing conditions. A maximum of two (2) representatives per bidder will be permitted to examine the sites.

    The site visit will be held on the 12th of January 2017 at 2:00 pm (EST). Interested bidders will meet at :

    Interested bidders are required to bring their personal protective equipment. The site grounds may be covered by snow and/or ice.

    Bidders must communicate with the Contracting Authority no later than one open day before the scheduled visit to confirm attendance at email josee.gagnon@pc.gc.ca.

    Bidders who, for any reason, cannot attend at the specified date and time will not be given an alternative appointment to view the site and their proposals. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.

    Closing Date and Time

    January 26th, 2017 at 2pm (EST)

    National Parks Regulations require that all work is to be performed in accordance with the ordinances, laws, rules and regulations set out in the National Park Act.

    Bidders that consider themselves qualified to provide this Work and intend to submit bids on this project should obtain documents from the Government Electronic Tendering Service through the Government of Canada tendering service at www.buyandsell.gc.ca/tenders. Addenda, when issued, will be available from the Government of Canada tendering service. Bidders that elect to base their bids on documents obtained from other sources do so at their own risk. Late submissions will not be considered.

    Period of Contract

    Contractor shall perform and complete the Work no later than 12 weeks after contract award.

    The Crown retains the right to negotiate with suppliers on any procurement.
