Description
Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) undertook scientific collaborative research during the 2016 Canada-Sweden Polar Expedition with the Swedish Polar Research Secretariat (SPRS) and the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS) to acquire novel data on the bedrock structure and geological history of the Arctic Ocean.Over the next two years, NRCan has been tasked by the government of Canada to develop a scientific case for an extended continental shelf in the Arctic Ocean and make a submission to the United Nations’ Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS). It is necessary for NRCan to contract analyses of critical data sets to have results for inclusion in the submission. The resulting contract is for the processing, analyses and interpretation of 2016 Arctic Ocean refraction data sets.
